In the framework of the COHESION Project, and after concerted efforts, the Wine Producers & Winegrowers Union of Nemea (the Greek acronym being ENOAN), was established. The three major local stakeholders, the Wineries Cooperative, individual wine producers and the Municipality of Nemea, found a common ground for their interest and action, with regard to the protection and promotion of Agiorgitiko Wine and of the Nemea area.

The plentiful natural assets of the area, from the antiquity until today, the historical involvement of the locals with the production of wine, the splendid vineyards, the unique V.Q.P.R.D. variety of Agiorgitiko, but also the investments and modern installations, endow the area with an enormous potential for development.

In May 2005 the procedures for the establishment of the company were accomplished and the Managing Board members were selected. Currently, the Union endorses more than 20 registered members, while more local wine producers have declared their interest.

Priority actions are the utilization of the project COHESION funds, the establishment of a congress centre in Nemea as well as of a Wine Publicity Centre, the sign-posting of the wider area and training of wine professionals.  The second round of actions will include: quality management, concerted publicity and promotion beyond the Greek boarders, eco- and agro-tourism activity and much more.
